In his previous role at Ontario Power Generation (OPG), Alvin managed the trading portfolio related to the IESO and NYISO markets where he consistently outperformed his peers and became a critical part of the trading team’s success. Prior to working at Ontario Power Generation, Alvin had several different roles within the risk management function across various top tier banks in Canada and acquired deep insight into all aspects of corporate risk management including market, credit, liquidity and operational risk. Alvin Tang oversees all operations at Nexus, leads the strategy and direction of the company and spearheads business growth initiatives. Additionally, he serves as a member of the Board of Directors for the Northeast Power Coordinating Council (NPCC).
Robin Doolittle is the Managing Director and Head of Trading at Nexus Energy Inc., where he leads the trading team with a focus on driving revenue growth through collaboration, innovation, and disciplined risk management. With over 20 years of experience in the energy sector, Robin has played a key role in building and scaling Nexus Energy’s trading operations, while fostering a culture of responsible risk-taking and long-term value creation.
Before joining Nexus, Robin held senior trading positions at Royal Bank of Canada and Ontario Power Generation, where he specialized in trading, generation optimization, and dispatch strategy. His deep expertise in both financial and physical markets has enabled him to navigate complex energy markets and develop robust strategies for business growth.
Robin holds a degree in Electrical Engineering from Queen’s University and is recognized for his strategic leadership and commitment to operational excellence.
Stephen Murakami is the Vice President – Head of West Trading at Nexus Energy, where he leads the Western Trading Team. With over 17 years in the power industry, he began his career at EPCOR in 2007 as a Real-Time Trader. After 3 years in this role, Stephen transitioned to the Real-Time Manager role, where he managed two RT Trading desks: one focused on asset optimization, and the other responsible for value creating physical flows throughout WECC. Stephen progressively assumed more senior roles at Capital Power that included cash trading, ancillary service trading, term trading, and Head Alberta Trader. Stephen has extensive experience in the Alberta Power market, having integrated several new assets, supported several market structure changes, and successfully optimized a large portfolio in the forward market. Stephen holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Finance from the University of Alberta and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Calgary.
Will Mercer is the Director of Physical Trading at Nexus Energy, where he helped set up and staff the Physical desk for trading in Real Time, Day Ahead and Virtual markets. With nearly 20 years of experience in the energy markets, he led the Physical group to several years of industry-beating results while expanding the number and breadth of traded products. Will started his career in mergers & acquisitions before earning a graduate degree and transitioning into trading. Prior to joining Nexus, he spent over a decade on the electricity trading desk at RBC Capital Markets focused on the Real Time and Day Ahead markets. He has experience trading energy in Ontario, New York, New England, PJM and MISO. Will balances work with his love of both cycling and golf.
In 2009, David Wunderlich graduated from Dalhousie University’s Bachelor of Commerce program with a major in Finance. Upon graduation, David started his career in the energy industry at Emera Energy and has held positions at Royal Bank Capital Markets and Ontario Power Generation prior to joining Nexus Energy in 2020. David has 15+ years of experience in the energy sector and developed a strong background in energy market analytics, trading and business development with a focus on the US Northeast and Ontario natural gas and power markets. David is a CFA® charterholder.
Darcy Hutzel is an Energy Sales Originator on our Deal Origination team, where he successfully leverages his considerable sales leadership, analytical and communication skills to drive revenue growth while fostering a culture of collaboration, operational excellence and continuous improvement at Nexus Energy. Before joining Nexus, Darcy worked as a Senior Analyst at the National Bank of Canada until 2004, when he switched careers and joined Direct Energy as a Field Sales Manager. Since that time, he has successfully built high-performing sales and operations teams, notably as the Manager of Sales Operations at Constellation Energy Canada and as the Director of Commercial Sales at Planet Energy. Darcy holds a Diploma in Accounting from Fanshawe College, a Bachelor of Business Administration with Honours from Laurentian University and is currently working on his Master’s Degree in Data Science at the University of Colorado, Boulder.
Before joining Nexus, Brendan Conklin received a degree in Engineering Mathematics and began his career as a programmer in Toronto. After working in a tech role for a couple of years, Brendan started at Nexus as an analyst for the financial trading team, learning the energy industry and designing tools. From here Brendan moved into to his current role as the Manager of IT Operations where he focuses on leveraging his background with technology and his experience on the business side of the company to manage projects of all sorts across every department at Nexus.
Ramnik Lalli is the Human Resources Coordinator at Nexus Energy Inc. Ramnik is passionate about fostering the best employee experience and cultivating a positive, collaborative workplace culture that aligns with Nexus's core values.
She holds a Bachelor of Applied Science from the University of Guelph, a Diploma of Education from Humber College, and a Graduate Certificate in Human Resources Management from George Brown College. Ramnik is also an active member of the Human Resource Professional Association (HRPA).
Outside of work, Ramnik enjoys spending time with family and friends, is a proud dog mom, and loves to read.

At Nexus Energy, Tony ensures smooth day-to-day operations while managing the company’s finances and asset initiatives. While growing the firms inhouse supporting functions, Tony is also focused on the Renewable asset expansion, evaluating projects opportunities, and facilitating collaborations with industry peers.
Gary Wight is the Vice President of Deal Origination, a recognized industry expert, has 20+ years experience and a proven track record in working with customers in managing energy risks, specifically understanding the needs of the customer and the changing market. He has served on the IESO stakeholder board and has extensive knowledge of the market. Gary started his career in Finance as the Suncor Sarnia Refinery Controller and then progressed his career to become the Manager of Energy Supply for Suncor and embraced the development of competitive markets in Ontario for both electricity and natural gas. He played senior roles in building Suncor’s, Constellation Energy and Bruce Power deal origination retail business. While Gary was Vice President of Regulatory and Business Development for Constellation, until the Lehman crisis caused a change in direction for Constellation, Gary actively promoted competitive markets representing the commercial customers whilst serving on the IESO stakeholder board. Prior to joining Nexus, Gary served as Senior Deal Originator for Bruce Power in a career spanning 10+ years until Bruce exited that business to concentrate on nuclear refurbishments. Gary’s team manages the electricity risk for some of Ontario’s largest commercial customers. Gary excels at relationship management and has an extensive network of customers and channel partners where he has been able to leverage his knowledge in Electricity, Natural Gas, Crude Oil, RNG, Carbon Offsets and Recs in managing customers energy risks, needs and reducing their carbon footprint. Gary is a CPA – Certified Professional Accountant. While not working Gary enjoys spending time in his church work (helping others) and building his dream cabin (WIP) a happy place to build strong family bonds that bring balance to my professional and family life.
Francois Tardif is one of the founding partners at Nexus, where he manages the company’s overall risk profile, maintains relations with regulatory bodies and ensures compliance with all applicable rules and regulations. With 17 years of experience in the field, Francois was instrumental in building Nexus’ physical trading team as Nexus’ first Director of Physical Trading before moving onto his current position in the risk & regulatory department. Prior to joining Nexus, Francois spent a decade working at Ontario Power Generation in the trading and asset management teams, building expertise in power markets across the Northeastern United States and Canada. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from McGill University.
Originally from Alberta, Alexandria has been involved in various aspects of energy markets throughout her career. With a strong fundamental base in North American gas, coal, and power analytics, she quickly progressed to a trading role within TransAlta Energy Marketing. During her time there, she was responsible for trading physical and financial products for hedging, asset optimization, deal origination and profit generation. After moving to Ontario, she began working at Bruce Power where she worked closely with the deal origination team. She was responsible for pricing deals and recognizing strategic trade opportunities while maintaining a balanced structured book. With Nexus, Ali is leveraging her energy and systems background to play a key role in enabling Nexus’ entry into the Ontario and US deal origination space with a focus on delivering customer value.
Ali Qaisar is General Counsel at Nexus Energy. Ali joined Nexus Energy in 2024, bringing with him with over eight years of experience gained through a combination of private practice and in-house roles.
Ali began his career in private practice specializing in banking and finance law and later branched into the energy sector, where he worked on notable projects, including LNG regasification and storage terminals and a major gas transmission pipeline. In-house, Ali’s experience includes serving as legal counsel for a large North American consumer packaged goods company, where he provided strategic legal advice across various business operations. His breadth of experience enables him to offer pragmatic, business-driven legal advice.
When Ali is not working, he likes to spend time in the outdoors, running, biking, and hiking with his dog.
